Terms of Service

By creating an account, downloading the ScanAI app, or using the ScanAI website (scanai-app.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use ScanAI.

These terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Scanai App, a Dutch general partnership (VOF) and the operator of ScanAI. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

ScanAI is an iOS application and accompanying web service that analyzes images and video to estimate the probability that they were generated by artificial intelligence. Results are probabilistic estimates and are not definitive or legally conclusive.

ScanAI is provided for informational and investigative purposes only. It should not be used as the sole basis for any legal, medical, journalistic, or financial decision.

You must register an account to use ScanAI. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 17 years old to create an account. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. ScanAI may suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion permanently removes your profile, scan history, and all personal data.

ScanAI offers a free plan of 10 scans per week, which resets every Monday (UTC) and requires no payment method. To scan beyond the free allowance, you can purchase credit packs or subscribe to Pro. Prices are displayed in your local currency and include applicable taxes.

Credit packs are a one-time purchase (25, 100, or 300 scans). They are non-recurring — there is no auto-renewal — and the credits never expire. For credit packs bought on the web, you may request a refund within 14 days of payment, consistent with our other web purchases; for App Store purchases, refunds are handled by Apple.

Pro is a subscription available on a monthly or annual billing cycle. It provides unlimited scanning for normal personal use, subject to a fair-use policy: to protect the service and keep it available for everyone, we apply a reasonable daily scan limit and may throttle, limit, or temporarily suspend usage that is automated, scripted, or materially exceeds typical personal use. During periods of exceptionally high demand, processing of free-tier scans may be temporarily limited and Pro subscribers receive priority. We may adjust these fair-use limits from time to time to reflect operating costs and capacity; any material change will be reflected in these Terms. Pro automatically renews for the same period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date; you can cancel at any time. For iOS subscriptions, manage or cancel auto-renewal in your Apple ID settings (App Store → your account → Subscriptions); for web subscriptions, use the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued for the unused portion of a period.

Web payments are processed by Stripe. iOS in-app purchases are made through Apple, managed by RevenueCat, and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

You agree not to use ScanAI to:

• Upload content you do not have the right to submit (e.g. content belonging to others without permission)

• Upload illegal content, including but not limited to CSAM or content promoting violence

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with ScanAI's detection systems

• Use the API in a way that circumvents rate limits or quota controls

• Misrepresent ScanAI's results — e.g. presenting a probabilistic score as a definitive forensic finding in a legal proceeding

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any ScanAI system or another user's data

Content you share publicly via a ScanAI share link may be reported by viewers. We may remove reported content and, for repeat or severe violations, suspend or ban the associated account.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

ScanAI and all associated software, branding, and documentation are owned by Scanai App and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any images or content you upload. By submitting content for analysis, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content for the sole purpose of providing the detection service.

We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to train our models without separate explicit consent.

ScanAI is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that detection results are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

AI detection is an imperfect science. False positives (human images flagged as AI) and false negatives (AI images flagged as human) can and do occur. ScanAI expressly disclaims any liability arising from reliance on its results.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scanai App's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of ScanAI is limited to the amount you paid for ScanAI in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including loss of data, lost profits, or reputational harm — even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
